Steve Gets Season Off To Good Start With 10th at Thruxton

Steve and the Gearlink Kawasaki squad got their season off to a great start at round 1 of the British Supersport championship, with both riders claiming top 10 results.

With top speeds in excess of 160mph, Thruxton is one of the most challenging races of the year and makes for close, entertaining races, and thats exactly what was on offer!

The action was think and fast, and Steven was right at the heart of it. Steve was one off eight riders in contention for 6th place, and endured a race long battle with Rob Frost (Number 71) who Steven just managed to get the better of come the end of the race.

Both Chris Martin (Steven's Team mate) & Steven, ended up qualifying further back than anticipated and started the race from 16th & 17th place respectively, but a fantastic effort from the team ensured that the result was turned around on race day, and Chris Martin had an impressive ride to 3rd place whilst Steven took a hard earned 10th, just six seconds back from overall race winner Steve Brogan.

Steve had this to say. 'What an enjoyable race. It's great to get a good result, especially after a poor qualifying. I got to thank the team for helping me turn it around. We analysed why we were struggling in the qualifying and made changes that enabled me to be competitive so I am pleased with that.'

'I am also chuffed with how close we were to the leaders, because sometimes you can be gifted positions but we earned this fair and square. Maybe with a better qualifying I'm sure I could have been higher in the results but it's a good platform to start. Also, I owe a massive thanks to all my sponsors and supporters who have helped me achieve this result'.

Steven will be out again for round 2 of the season at Oulton park on the 03/04/05 of May.
