"Back On Track At Silverstone"



Sam Neate have just completed the penultimate round of this years series. Aftre a traumatic croft, the team only just made the weekend, as the bike was only finished after it's highspeed tumble at croft. Luckily it was the local round for the bedfordshire man, otherwise the team and the bike wouldn't have made the friday practice...


However the team pulled through and a last mad rush in the morning to blead the brakes, the bike was sorted and ready to ride, all that was left, was the rider to be passed fit... With a few niggling pains still in the back of his knee and shoulder Sam was able to proceed with the weekend...

First free practice saw Sam get comfortable on the bike again. After croft Sam was slightly nervous but never the less he showed his strength posting the 22nd fasted time of the session, looking good for the 16 year old. After the session lots was to be changed to the settings and the final gearing of the bike as he said there was lots more to come from the set up.

Qualifying 1 was to be on the same day, and after alot of changes it prooved that they had been the wrong changes to make, as Sam ended up well down in 38th place, but the team was still up beat and there was no doubt that sam could go faster!

After a good night's sleep it was obvious that Sam had thought about what needed to be done. So after many changed had been made to the bike and the mentality of the rider, He headed out for his second qualifying, and after a quater of the session, Sam had moved up to 17th place as he went a further 1.8 seconds faster than yesterday's qualifying, However Sam seemed to hit a bit of a block as he couldnt go any faster in that session, and unfortunately dropping to 22nd. This still being a creditable finish for the youngster.

Race Day: Sunday was to be a long day with superstcok 600 being the last race again, (17:15). After a good solid warmup Sam was confident for the race and eager to get going,. five O'Clock soon came around and the grid had formed, and a poor start from sam saw him come round on the first lap in 23rd position, but not far from where he needed to be. Sam soon settled into a good rhythem but after 5 laps lost touch of the group infront. After posting some quick consistent times it seemd that Sam must of had a few moments allowing some riders from behind to make a pass. After 14 laps of the Silverstone National Circuit sam came across the line in 18th place.

" I am pleased to be back out on a bike again, Mum & Dad have done a fantastic job of getting the bike back together and the ammount of miles covered has been finominal. Silverstone is a frustrating circuit as every year i come here i seem to hit a brick wall, however its been a good solid result on my return and i am really looking forward to brands to recindle some of that cadwell magic, I am capable of those results i just need to build it up and go for it!
